Is anyone here familiar with copyright/trademark laws or has experience recreating company logos for custom upholstery applications? I want to embroider seats with the vehicle manufacturer's logo but this borders on reproduction and distribution of a trademark logo. Any feedback is appreciated.

Every country as different laws on this, You could always ask said manufacture if you can buy a licence to use there logo on a set amount of items but that would get very costly if you was to apply to every one. I look at it this way if your putting the logo on a set of seats that are going into the same vehicle your not really stepping on toes but if you was to start selling mugs or t shirts ect with a logo on that will land you in deep do do if your caught. In the Poo K (uk) you used to get a cease and desist notice but not sure if it as changed. It is a hard one as you only have to go onto many selling platforms to see 1000s of unlicensed logo use but being a business you could get a slapped hand or massive fine as courts see it as you own a business and should know better.

If you are not mass producing or selling the item as a factory "knock off", I would not worry about litigation. In fact, this is the information I got from a GM as well as Ford factory rep. back in the early 2000's in regards to repairing/replacing leather panels in late model vehicles.

Most organizations will allow this but beware of professional sports teams (who do NOT)
We farm our embroidery out and the graphic artists know what not to copy. We generally do mostly boats and they seem to welcome the nod.
