I’m Serge from the Netherlands and just re-joined this forum. Haven’t logged in for a long time on my old account so had to start a new one.
Anyway, I found myself in need for some upholstery advice and inspiration... Seems I’m still in the right spot for that!
The question that’s currently on my mind is; where can I get transparent thread (in Europe...)?
I know it exists and I know some of you use it but can’t seem to find any around here, other than used for fishing haha! My usual thread supplier sells Amann but didn’t even know it existed...

I know that the company 'Gore' sells 'Tenara'-thread in different colours including transparent.
The company is based in Germany (so very close to you ;-) and the website is: www.gore.de . Maybe contact them and ask for a sample.

Been searching today and found out that Amann is actually a sales point for Gore... So called my usual supplier again if they can get the Gore Tenara. No answer yet since it was friday afternoon haha.
Found it online also but €130 for 1 spool of 1700m seems like they used gold thread or something...
Can’t find any transparent thread on the Coats site btw. -

How so? I was gonna use it on pleated brown/blue/yellow tweed... White thread would be awfull on that -

3This is from another forum. Solarfix clear. Another shop did a job I saw that used clear Tenara clear that was better but still stood out from fabric. I would make sure needle isn't too small so it doesn't stress the thread as it is sewn.

16Tenara tends to be more of a white like shown on any color. its really not that transparent.
Have a few spools on the shelf and to me the clear looks like a cloudy white.
The Wonderthread is far far much cheaper and is hardly noticed. Goodluck! -

Ok thanx for your reply, saw it too late so ordered the Tenara already...:grimace:
Did order a brown Serafil with it aswell if the Tenara was disappointing, so might end up using that.
I’ll look into the Wonderthread option nevertheless.
