Tell us about yourself | I would like to say I started doing upholstery out of necessity due to wants. In the early 80's I wanted my car redone, just couldn't afford it making it necessary to do it myself. Took a $29.00 upholstery class at a local Community College in the evening which gave me the basics for recovering a chair and the use of a sewing machine one hour a week and my mothers old home machine to finish it. The car turned into redoing my boat which turned into repairs for friends etc. Then I moved south, began working at an airport (long story) and mentioned that I could repair a torn seat in a customers airplane and one job turned into two and so on. I still split my time between turning wrenches and doing upholstery. The last several years it has been a lot more upholstery but I stay turning wrenches as what better way to feed my business. I'm pretty much self taught. Mostly stay word of mouth, a good job for a fair price keeps me very busy, so I really do not use social media. I'm still perfecting this trade and enjoying every minute of the ride. |
