so after years of trying different methods in the uk for a good quality high temp glue that can be sprayed with a pressure pot ive listened to all you guys in the usa and have ordered some weldwood to be shipped from usa to uk !!!

so I have a few virgin question's to help me start on the right foot so here goes

whats to look for on a buying a pressure pot ?

what do you do at the end of each day for maintenance / cleaning ?

same as above but weekly ?

do you leave air connected to pot all the time or just when in use ?

is there a point that it has to be stirred if not used for long period of time ??

any advice will be much apricated

Posted this on another post. My first one was a Craftsman 2 gallon paint pot. I purchased the airline and fluid tube from our upholstery supplier. Purchased a second gauge and regulator for out going pressure regulation. And I bought the gun from Big Lots. That setup was 10 times better than the binks i have now. I once left glue in it for 8 months and it was still fine. It doesn't need to be connected to air line nor do i stir it. If it sit for a week or so stirring would be a good idea but i don't. It should keep as long as the seal on the lid is seated good.

also do you guys poor glue straight in to pot or do you put your own disposable tin / bowl in pot rather than a pot liner ??

I use a pot liner and change that every 10 gallons or so. Just so that it can still siphon up the glue and not the solids that fall to the bottom.

so im just about to commit and have 2 questions I need answering ??
    what size needle ?? 1.4 or 1.8
does it have to have valve and gauge 1 for input and 1 other for output or is just the 1 ok ??
if not and pot only has 1 is it fine to use the remote one that fits just before gun ?

My setup I've used for years is a 2.5 gallon pressure pot
Has one gauge with pressure regulator and safety valve on pot
Use nylon tubing for fluid rubber line okay for air
Binks 2001SS gun with 1.8 needle. You can always turn fluid down to regulate spray
As for liners, I usually use a plastic jug for glue, milk jug, bleach bottle etc, always seem to have one around so no extra cost incurred
Very rarely clean completely mostly just the air cap needs cleaned
Whenever I add glue I check for solids in bottom of jug and if loaded up time for a new jug
    Also only use Weldwood glue

BTW my regulator on pot is for gun pressure I use the regulator on my air system in shop to limit air to pot so basically 2 regulators as I use my shop regulator for painting as well

I have the same gun as Joe. I bought it from Perfect Fit-McDonald. They sell the gun setup for adhesive. I also only spray weldwood. I bought the pot used. Rebuild kits for the old regulators were easy to find online for a couple bucks.

Hi everyone; appreciate the topic and the input from each one. I too have been using Welwood from the get go. I have been looking for suggestion on how to set up my Air lines for my shop which am in the process of setting up. If anyone have any suggestion, diagram I would be most appreciative. Thanks

I tried a Harbor Freight pot and the hoses were destroyed by the glue.

didn't have good results with this reg in the end so changed it for a matching one to the pot .............anyway what pressure are you guys running ??
I found 4psi for the pot and 35psi for the gun close enough , does that sound about right ??
