Anyone have thoughts on softening leather that is sun baked? I have a rear headrest here from an 06 gto that has hard leather and a popped seam. Just recently started wiping it down with a high quality conditioner, seems it may be helping slowly. Thought i’d check and see if anyone has a special procedure or product for this task. Thanks in advance.

Them GTO’s are notorious for that. I don’t know if it’s the leather or lack of conditioning during ownership but I have done quite a few of them. Last one I just ordered a kit for the car.

I think once it has gotten to that point nothing is going to soften or restore the leather enough to be pliable so that it can be resewn. I’ve tried a lot of things but none really worked.

The only product that I have used with any type of success is leather week leather conditioner. If the weather is shrunk considerably and you’ve popped a seam already nothing will work that I’m aware of

Hey guys, thanks for your input, greatly appreciated! I’m probably looking at making new covers, but I plan to contact the customer and then maybe try to pull the cover off and repair. I think I have a rock solid 2.35% of it working... Jesse, you mentioned last one you used a kit. Was that a whole seat kit or does someone offer just the headrests? It would be nice if someone already produced them in blue, sourcing the matching leather might be tricky. Thanks.
